Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.
Obituary
Born on May 10, 1952, John grew up with a curiosity about the world that never left him. After finishing school, he began a long career as a carpenter, a trade he practiced with pride and quiet skill for more than four decades. Colleagues remember him as the man who could fix anything and who never turned down a request for help.
In 1976, John married the love of his life, Mary. Together they built a warm home and raised two children, Sarah and Michael. Nothing made John happier than Sunday dinners with the whole family around the table, or teaching his grandchildren how to fish at the lake he'd visited since boyhood.
John was known for his dry humor, his loyalty to his friends, and his stubborn insistence that things were always better done by hand. He loved woodworking, crossword puzzles, and long walks with his dog, Buster.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary; his children, Sarah (Tom) and Michael (Lisa); five grandchildren; and his brother, Robert. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Anne.
